Dr. Collier received his Medical Degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in 1972, after completing his double major Bachelor of Science degree from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1977, he completed his surgical internship and residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee where he was chosen as Chief Surgery Resident. Dr. Collier received formal training in laparoscopic weight loss surgery and gastric bypass at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2003. He was the first surgeon in Montgomery County, Texas to be certified by training for the Lap-Band System© by Allergan Health, the developer of the Lap-Band©.

"I began using laparoscopic surgery as soon as the technique became available to general surgeons in 1989, and have performed thousands of procedures through the laparoscope. It is less traumatic, recovery time is shortened, and patients are able to resume regular activities much sooner. I am convinced that weight loss surgery using the Lap-Band System is the surgical treatment of choice for obesity."

Dr. Collier established his surgical practice in Conroe, Texas in 1981. He has continually maintained his practice and a professional office there since 1981 and in The Woodlands, Texas since 1985. He was one of the first surgeons to bring laparoscopic surgery to these areas. He is on staff at Conroe Regional Medical Center, St. Luke's Community Hospital- The Woodlands, Memorial Hospital - The Woodlands, and River Oaks Hospital in Houston, Texas. He also operates at Journey Lite of Houston and the Surgery Center of Conroe.

He is an active member of the Texas Medical Association, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

"Helping people with the Lap-Band System to lose weight and eliminate diabetes, hypertension, and other health related ailments associated with obesity, has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,"
